STEPS FOR NCLEX APPLICATION FROM INDIA FOR RN USA :-

This is an information regarding NCLEX examination and steps of application after I got this successful story from one of my Tibetan nursing friend from Delhi-India. Whereas I’m a Tibetan Immigrant living in States and I recognized many struggling with NCLEX & the process.
Disclaimer : The Purpose of sharing this info is only to help international nurses.
So NCLEX -RN examination is licensure examination (USA) . Nurses, whether they are US trained or foreign trained , one need go through NCLEX RN examination and have to pass the NCLEX to start working as a RN. In India we don't have to give a national licensure examination, we had State board.
IMPORTANT tips -
1-NCLEX results do not expire and you can take the test after graduation and do not require any experience (if you fail the test One can take NCLEX multiple times in USA ).
2-Your English proficiency test like TOEFL/IELTS expires, but NY and California doesn't require it. (depends on each State)
3-Your Visa will ultimately expire still you can take NCLEX anytime before or after visa. www.uscis.gov
4-If you took NCLEX through other state, it doesn't matter as you can transfer your license. www.cgfns.org
5-For foreign Nurse we don't have social security number as we don't reside in USA . So there are some state in USA who accept application without SSN .for example - New York , New Mexico . Maybe there are few more you can research.
6-It will be good for you if you get work experience form JCI accredited hospital in India, it will help you if you plan for further studies in US.
7- Do bring copy of your health check up, which you do during the interview processing(Especially the TB test report and immunization list).
WHAT IS SSN(social security number) - it's not like ID card. Some might be thinking what if they are planning to settle in another state so let me make it clear if you don't have social security number, You can't apply in some state from other country. So you can choose either taking NCLEX from India by applying for state like New York as they don't require SSN .
OR you can take NCLEX after getting here in states once you get SSN from any state.
*You can take NCLEX from any place and live in another state in USA.
Once you pass the test, you can transfer your license by endorsement to place you want to work and practice nursing.
*make sure your license from India is current / check expiration otherwise you will be in problem while applying for CGFNS.

As states has different requirements like English proficiency test. So once you passed NCLEX exam, You can do license endorsement . There are different step for endorsement . In state of board Nursing website they have provided information regarding this . If you are still not clear . You can check their website.
Other impt question -- someone is not in process of immigration or say they want to get help of agency who provide job in USA after passing exam . There are some agency ,But can't guarantee about getting a job and visa from that agency. So Be really careful

STEPS OF PROCESS :-
There may be other way but I'm only sharing as wrote by my nursing friend as below- www.op.nysed.gov
1-Go to www.op.nysed.gov it's a New York board of nursing official .
There is 2 requirement to complete prior to filing the application form .
a- Child abuse coursework.
b-Infection control coursework
These two coursework is mandatory .,On left side you will see heading of of these two coursework . Click on one of these and you have to do it online . So website itself will provide online agency who provide particular coursework . So apply for the same . Pay and give test . They will send email of your certificate once you give the exam same goes with other coursework . Then print the form . Keep at aside .
Now next task is filling the form for New York board of nursing so go to same New York website . And on left side there is option for RN form so click on that print the form . And fill the form . And send the filled form and 2 coursework completion certificate along with it . And the required dollar which you have send in money draft payable to New York board of nursing the information will be on form also . All enclosed in one envelope . Send to address mention on form .
They will write back to you when they receive the post mail . They will say you can now proceed to next step in processing which is Application to CGFNS
This company deal with foreign Nurse education verification .visit their website www.Cgfns.org
And make account . When you login choose the option which say PURCHASE SERVICE. form has to fill online regarding Personal information school information , nursing education information , license too .
So fill all the necessary option . Pay using credit card . They only accept credit card . So those who don't have ,you can request your friend , cousins who have credit card for the payment purpose . After payment is done you will get mail of confirmation .
On same page you will get option to download and print some paper . So print that form . Fill the required one . Get it notarized from notary center those who handle with affidavit stuff . You will find it easily " notary " send those form to CGFNS . Address mentions in the form .
Wait for their mail . So when they received your application they will write back to you about the Service . Sending the downloaded and printed form to CGFNS is your work to do . Nursing school play no role in this .
When they received your form which you have send
DON'T MAKE ANY CONTACT WITH SCHOOL ABOUT THE PROCESS, LET THEM SEND ON THEIR OWN . THIS IS VERY STRICT INFORMATION.
If they come to know you have made a contact with the school or college about it . They will right away cancelled your process .
They will send letter which you have send to them again to school . Contact is made between school and cgfns only .

Completion of the Credential Verification Service (CVS) for New York State varies in length depending on how promptly a response is received from the school or licensing authority. However, here are some time estimates regarding the service:
* Processing your order. It generally takes about 8 weeks from the time we receive your application materials to the time we send out the first request letter to your school and licensing authority.
* Waiting for a response. After the first letter is sent to your school and licensing authority, we wait 60 days before sending a second request letter, and another 60 days before sending a third and final letter. After 180 days from the time the first letter was sent, your order status will change to Ready for Submission, regardless of what documentation we have received. Note: For Canadian applicants, a letter is sent every 30 days, and the order status changes to Ready for Submission after 90 days.
* Reviewing documentation. Upon receipt of documentation from your school or licensing authority, we must verify its authenticity and ensure that all the information provided is consistent. This process is typically completed within 4-6 weeks. If there is a problem with the documentation, we will write back to the issuing source for further clarification.
* Issuing the report. A report can be issued to the New York State Education Department within 4-6 weeks after the receipt of all necessary documentation or from the time your order status becomes Ready for Submission.
In my case I have problem with cgfns service as they have not received the licensing authority letter . So after 180 days they will send your file whether it's finished or undone or in process they will submit report to New York board of nursing .
New York board of Nursing will contact you regarding the cgfns incomplete services .
New York board will again ask you to contact school or college to issue you again official transcript enclosed in envelope seal by school and form 2f which you have print and fill the required information 1st page by applicant and second page for school authority .both has to send by school only ..
Note - Here you can contact your school for transcript and filling the form 2f
When they received the school sealed envelope they will recheck and after few week they will issue you Authorization letter . (ATT)
So with that ATT number . You have to make a account with Pearson vue . www.pearsonvue.com And pay the required amount of fee.
Register and select the date for the exam . Again you have to pay the fee for registering with exam . One fee for just making account with them and one for selecting exam date .
And all you have is to study . And give exam when you feel you are ready .

•Cgfns verification service = $390
•Pearson vue =$200
•Registering exam with Pearson vue = $200
•Retest nclex= Approx$180 with P.vue-$200 .
